Cole's quip

So I remembered, what Cole said. As he came out from getting dressed and said "mom, I want underwear that doesn't have anything on them". I didn't think anything of it at first and then I thought Oh My Gosh, my baby has just hit some kind of milestone. I would of never thought it would come so soon or really come at all, but it came and it made me smile.

Last night the kids were bored and we had piece of square shaped styrofoam and he decided to turn it into a television. Whoever held it up to their face was watching and whoever wasn't watching was performing. When the watcher said change channel the performer had to come up with a new "tv show". It was so cute to watch and they were pretty good at changing quickly. There was a lot of dancing, marrying princes and fighting battles. Tonight Hannah broke the tv, not much unlike her typically pushing the real tv buttons and infuriating her brother and sister.

Life's changes

It's a beautiful sunny day. I pull up to get gas, get out and notice loud music playing but not the thump thump variety. This is 80s music that I recognize. The car it's coming from is right next to me and it's a cute little convertible. I see that it is two girls, young, blonded, clad in teeny bikinis and headed to the beach. As the one girl comes out of the store with cold drinks, she says let's get on the road all excited. You can tell their day was going to be filled with sun and fun. I was taken back 15-20 (!!!) years and that was me with a friend headed to the beach (though my torso was never bikiniable)... care free sunning, no worries of sunburns, strangers, sand in the car or the seconds passing by like the wind. Then....knock, knock, knock MOM!!!! and I'm brought quickly back to today's spring break. I get into the driver's seat of my mini van and head off to Chuck E. Cheese, hand Hannah her lukewarm milk, while I listen to my kid's fight over which song they want to hear for the 15,000th time from their favorite CD. A day ahead of us filled with sobs, shrieks, smiles, and the best hugs and laughter known to mankind. I wouldn't chang places for the world...not permanently anyway :).

Out of the mouths

of Cole and Laura..

okay justLaura I can't remember Cole's but I know it was a doozy so as soon as I remember it I'm putting it on here.

I was carrying Laura to bed tonight and she was pretty tired and she said Mom, I love you forever and I told her the same. Then she said mom I don't want to grow up, she's said this before and she's pretty serious about this. She continued I don't want to grow up and move away and have a baby. I try to explain that this will take some time and that she doesn't have to do those things if she doesn't want to...I'm not sure what else to say. I want to say you will be dying to leave long before you're able to but I'm pretty sure that was worsen the situation. Then she said...Cole will grow up before I will and I agreed, she said that's good because he's very nice to me. My heart was melting all over the place. She's always been so independent so things like this catch me off guard.

Today we were going to someone's house after church, that's right last minute visiting teaching and the kids were going with me and Laura asked if the person we were going to see, would be home and I said yes she left right after church. Laura was so surprised, her questions where..."she left right after church?!! She went straight to her car?!! She didn't do any talking?!!" I guess we've been talking more than I thought we were.

And Hannah's brilliant quip was last week when she said her first sentence "Bye Mama" :)
