Kids Say and do the darndest things

So today we get home from church and we're about to eat lunch and Cole says "I don't like being handsome, girls like me too much". I ask him to tell me why again he does not like being handsome and he says two girls already have a crush on me! He was very serious and sincere, I hope he feels that way as humbly as possible for the rest of his life :).
Then we made mailboxes for each person at home and the kids loved this idea more than I thought they would. For a half hour they were putting letters, gifts and such in each other's mail boxes. Cole has a "store" set up in his bedroom and often sells things to Laura, who borrows change off of our dressers. Anyway, Cole's first mail to Laura was the following (exhibit A):

He then gets a dinosaur and wraps it up like a present and I think oh how sweet he's giving Laura a gift and the letter said that there were dinosaurs like the one she received on sale at Cole's store. After she opened it, the innocent, unsuspecting Laura said "That is wonderful, what a nice present" and was thrilled to have it.

Hannah at some point today found a marker and decided that her belly button needed more color...
Other tidbits...
Cole asks this morning if when he grew up he could make it a law that everyone go to some type of church. He knows all about the founders of our country coming here for religious freedom and so I started to explain that and he said no they could go to any church they wanted and I explained that part of religious freedom was choosing not to have one. He didn't have much to say about that.
Hannah read for the first time in family scriptures tonight. Laura usually has her turn and tonight, following suit, Hannah wanted hers, she loved the we were listening to her. So sweet!

And here's a pic of Laura at Jackson's party that I love ...

I love it because she's waiting for her turn to play pin the balloon on the fire truck and I know by her stance and look, what she's thinking. Something to the effect of "Okay, I really really want a turn and I know the little kids have to go first....but can we please hurry...But I can handle this, I'm chillin' no prob". It's not easy for her to wait but she's hanging in there like a champ! And why wouldn't she with such a handsome guy standing next to her :).
I was looking at Cole today and Brandon was teasing him about something trying make him believe something that wasn't true and I sometimes lose sight of how innocent and trusting kids are. I think of Cole so knowledgeable and wise for his age, but looking at him today I was reminded he's just a little boy and believes in his Dad...if only it could last (without the whining and Mom! She hit me!) Ah well can't have it all.
